General Purpose Motors
Baldor's GPM product family of Large AC induction motors have many popular ratings in stock and an extensive array of pre-engineered ratings ready for order on short lead time. Performance data, drawings, etc., are readily available to ensure the right motor is selected for your application. Common feature modifications are available on the entire product family to suit a wide variety of industrial needs.
Hazardous Location Motors
Baldor's extensive line of Division 1 Explosion Proof motors are designed and built to contain an explosion inside and not propagate it into the surrounding atmosphere. Aproval listings are avalable for Class I (Gas) and or Class II (Dust) hazardous enviroments. Suitable for fixed speed, sine wave only operation.
Variable Speed Motors
Industrial electric motors from Baldor are available for most general purpose applications and processes. However, some AC Variable Speed applications require constant torque at zero speed. Large AC Variable Speed Motors are designed as standard to meet a class F temperature rise at 1.0 SF. In order to produce a motor which is capable of full life expectancy while powered by an inverter wave form there are certain features that must be included in all Large AC Variable Speed Motors.
Vertical Motors
Above NEMA Vertical P-Base Motors are the ideal fit for any pump or fan system where space is at a premium. Offerings more power and thrust in a smaller frame provides a solution to minimize the overall pump or fan system footprint. Offering performance and reliability to the chemical, oil, & gas industry, Above NEMA P-Base motors can meet IEEE841 and API standards.
Slip Ring Induction Motors
For applications that demand high starting torques, low starting current, or both, Baldor is proud to offer ABB's broad line of slip ring induction motors. Our design experience and application expertise have made us a leading manufacturer of high voltage slip-ring inductionmotors. These motors are widely used in applications requiring high starting torque or low starting current, including mill drives, cement plants, mines, utilities, water works and many more.
Drill Rig Motors
For all your onshore and offshore drilling operations Baldor and ABB have you covered with our extensive line of motors created specifically for the drilling industry. Each motor is carefully designed to match the demands of land-based and offshore oil and gas drilling applications. The motors are designed to be highly reliable, compact, and cost effective, all of which have helped us to established ourselves as the natural choice for critical applications in harsh conditions: we are providing dependable operation in severe environments ranging from offshore platforms in the Arctic to some of the hottest desert locations on earth.
Low Inrush Current Motors
ABB's Low inrush current (LIC) motors are generally used in weak supply networks where the high starting currents typically drawn by regular motors could cause disturbances. Using data from its extensive installed base, ABB has identified the most common requirements for low inrush current (LIC) motors and created a set of pre-calculated motors based on enhanced designs. These improved motors are optimized for the most common applications, making motor selection much easier and shortening delivery times.
High Inertia Fan Motors
With stall times longer than their start times, moderate inrush current levels and a choice of cooling systems, ABB’s new high inertia motors are ideal for driving large fans. Reliability is assured, as they are based on ABB’s proven modular induction motor platform. ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, has launched a series of motors designed to accelerate high inertia loads, such as axial fans.

Low Speed (Below 6 Pole) Motors
The ABB synchronous motors are known for meeting the high performance standards demanded by many of key industries and industrial sectors all over the world. This can be seen in our extensive line of Low Speed" synchronous motors which range from 1 to 70 MW in both fixed and variable speed designs. Voltages range from 1kV - 60kV and all major enclosures are available including: WPII (IC01), TEAAC (IC611), and TEWAC (IC81W). Motors are available to meet standards including: IEC, NEMA, VDE, and CSA; all major marine society certifications such as: ABS, DNV, and BV; industry standards such as API 546; while also be available to meet requirements for hazardous locations according to EX (ATEX, IECEx, etc...) Zone 1 and Zone 2 and Division 2 areas.
Very High Voltage Motors
The ABB synchronous motors are known for meeting the high performance standards demanded by many of key industries and industrial sectors all over the world. This is increasingly evident in our line very high voltage synchronous motors also know as the Motorformer®, which range from 5-50MW at voltages from 15kV up to 70kV all in a standard 4 pole design. This innovative design was created to eliminate the need for a large transformer on high voltage applications. Enclosures are available as TEAAC (IC611) and TEWAC (IC81W) up to 10MW and TEWAC (IC86W) above 10MW. Motors are available to meet standards including: IEC and NEMA; all major marine society certifications such as: ABS, DNV, and BV; and Hazardous area classifications via Ex p enclosure.
