Gate valves are normally used for on-off service. They are not recommended for throttling service.
閘閥通常安裝在水平管道上，其閥桿垂直向上。閘閥也可以安裝在垂直或水平管道上，其閥桿并不是垂直向上，但是此時要求具有特殊的結(jié)構(gòu)，取決于閥門通徑、應(yīng)用條件和材料等因素。如果訂購的閥門不是用于正常的安裝方式，則在訂購時，應(yīng)該咨詢廠家并閥門的流向。
Gate valves are normally installed in horizontal pipe runs with the valve stem vertically up. They can also be installed in vertical or horizontal pipe runs with the valve stem other than vertical, but special construction may be required depending on valve size, service conditionsmaterial. When purchasing valves for other than the normal installation, valve orientation should be specified when consulting the factory.
在以足夠的力量關(guān)閉閘閥后，應(yīng)該是閥桿稍微回轉(zhuǎn)一點(diǎn)（1/8至1/4轉(zhuǎn)），以減輕閥桿的負(fù)載。這將使得閥桿能夠稍微擴(kuò)張，不至于彎曲或損壞閥門，也不影響閥門的關(guān)閉。
After closing a gate valve with sufficient force to develop shutoff, the stem should be backed off slightly （1/8 to 1/4 turn） to relieve stem load. This will enable the stem to expand slightly without bending or damaging the valvewill not affect valve shutoff.

Gate valves are offered in two designs: Parallel DiscFlexible Wedge. Parallel Disc are position seated; Flexible Wedge are torque seated when closing.
